How do children learn to hate?

Teachers can identity and dispel stereotypes by validating student’s cultural identity with affirming books, articles, and movies. When teachers purposefully invite the culture into the classroom/school, students begin to see the similarities between cultures as opposed to the differences.

Teachers should develop an understanding of students' lives to increase the relevance of lessons and make examples more meaningful. Depending on the age level and maturity, teachers can engage in honest dialog about culture, differences and commonalities.
